I just came across a post on news.com from may, noting that unicode is beating other charsets like ASCII on the web.

Unicode is quite old in computer terms and was published in 1991, but still most operating systems default to their own litte variation on 8-bit ASCII, so it's refreshing to see that it will eventually become a legacy encoding.
